Consumer research in China and Pakistan has led to diamond-shaped panels, which grace the sides of Tetra Pak’s new aseptic drink cartons, rolling out worldwide.
The research suggested the TBA Crystal performs well in design, visual appeal and functionality. The Tetra Brik Aseptic 250 Base Crystal pack plays up with the straight-sided prisms often seen in juice and milk boxes, adding two crystal shaped panels that aim to catch consumers’ eye with more possibilities for graphic design.
The packaging was first trialled with China’s Mengniu dairy and icecream producer. Zhao Xingji, head of brand management at Mengniu Dairy, says the company was pleased with the results. He says, “We appreciate cost efficient solutions such as the retrofittable solution of Tetra Brik Aseptic Crystal.
It provides us a simple way to support the upgrade of our dairy drinks products.”Manuel Calderon, product director at Tetra Pak, says, “As consumers have less time to choose from an increasingly wide range of products, differentiation becomes more important to brands. This new package is a way for food producers to bring distinctiveness to their brands through a low-cost, retrofttable solution.”
Tetra Pak adds that the material has an increased stiffness and robust environmental profile – with a higher paper content and better renewability.
For converters using previous styles, the package is retrofittable on existing TBA/22 filling lines, with the roll out of new generation Tetra Pak A3/Speed lines to start in 2015.
