KBA spreads software solutions in Asia

KBA has combined with Optimus and Logica Sistemi to implement over 50 of its Productivity Plus management systems in China alone.

The combination of MIS systems from Optimus; PPS software belonging to the KBA LogoTronic product range; and a partnership with Italian company Logica Sistemi, has given KBA a further solution for production planning and control as well as production-data capture in real time. The company says this solution has proven successful especially in China.

KBA says that Logica has a mission to optimise management and production processes as well as to enable full production control as a basis for strategic planning. That combined with the module DataProduction for capturing production data in real time, the software suite available under the name KBA ProductivityPlus comprises a further module for production management.

ProductivityPlus facilitates the capture of key operating data, a preview of current jobs, a view of the production status as well as monitoring the production process via a BDE terminal at the press. Press operators can log-on using smart cards or the touch-screen. Charts available online support the analysis of production processes. Furthermore, the management can access data and check production in real time from outside the company via a web browser on a smartphone or tablet PC.

The company says that it can adapt and expand ProductivityPlus to meet the specific needs of the company in question. Options include JobManager which allows the user to create new jobs and import them into MIS as well as prepress tools, a pre-flight check and FTP server management. A JDF CIP4 interface between DataProduction and MIS is also available.

KBA says that streamlined production, data control and extensive analysis capabilities increase the productivity of the printing process. It adds that makeready times are reduced and precise information regarding consumables are designed to optimise material management. It emphasises that a raft of print firms have already taken advantage of the benefits of ProductivityPlus and are using solutions from Logica.
