At Ipex Xeikon announced its Trillium project is a step closer to reality, as the company signed up its first install, with French outfit TagG.
According to Xeikon’s Australia sales manager Greg Neesham the new Trilllium is scheduled to go on general release as early as Q1 next year, once the TagG machine has proved itself.
Trillium uses a liquid toner technology and is aimed squarely at the market targeted by the high speed webfed inkjet systems from the likes of Océ, HP, Kodak, Screen, Ricoh and Xerox.
Neesham says, “The liquid toner technology delivers a higher quality, 1200dpi with a 16 level grey scale, and is more reliable because it is an impact system, it doesn’t use nozzles so the ink is not flying through the air.”
Xeikon is funding the development of Trillium by becoming a private company again, and leaving its stock market listing, with two investment funds and the management buying the business.
Xeikon was also promoting its Packaging Week, to be held May 20-22 this year, which will run on the same lines as the Hunkeler Innovation Days by having a multitude of partner companies come together to present solutions for the week.
The company was showing its folding carton capabilities at Ipex, as it seeks to dominate the nascent digital packaging business.
With its Folding Carton Suite, Xeikon offers a ready-to-use package, making it easy for customers to configure an efficient and cost-effective set-up for the digital production of folding cartons.
Neesham says, “It’s the ideal solution for packaging converters who need to add high quality cost-effective short runs of folding cartons to their mix of offerings, as well as for commercial printers looking to enter the packaging market.
“The Xeikon Folding Carton Suite includes a Xeikon 3000 Series digital press, a range of recommended substrates, specific workflow and software components, toners, consumables and finishing equipment.”
