Agfa Graphics has printed 200 reproductions of the world’s most famous works of art to be hung in an exhibit in an old warehouse in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
From Munch’s The Scream, da Vinci’s Mona Lisa and Rembrandt’s The Night Watch, to Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring, works from 80 different museums in various parts of the world, by more than 100 artists, have been brought together for the interactive exhibition.
The masterpieces were printed on Agfa’s wide-format inkjet printers by local partner TVE in Sint Oedenrode – on a variety of substrates ranging from carton over canvas to wood, dibond and glass.
TVE will also produce a variety of banners, signage, merchandising and personalised products for the exhibit.
Mart Walda, exhibition organiser, says, “The purpose of the exhibition is to make it possible for everyone to experience art. It had to be entertaining so expect to see beamers, touchscreens and interactivity with apps for smartphones.”
Visitors are invited to experience the exhibit with a multimedia timeline through a downloadable app that explores the art styles, inventions, revolutions and political events surrounding the paintings.
And, Walda says, anyone who wants to touch one of the works of art is free to do so.
