EFI says Aussies looking to integration

Industry giant EFI says Australian print businesses are in the vanguard of the integration vision that it believes will underpin all successful print businesses in the future.

On a whistle-stop tour down under Frank Mallozzi, senior vice president, worldwide sales & marketing at EFI told Australian Printer that local printers were making the transformation to integration.

He says, “The key to success in print businesses in the years to come will be integration and so minimising human touch points in the whole process.

“Those businesses that have everything from their web-to-print, their job tickets, their print production, their back office, their management information all fully integrated will be the ones that will rise above the competition.”

Mallozzi of course has an interest in integration, EFI is now the world’s biggest print software developer, and its most successful. The company has just recorded a stunning 2013, with revenue up by 12 per cent to $728m and profits up by 22 per cent compared to 2012 to $106m for the year.

He says that EFI remains fully focused on the print industry, and has no intention of moving elsewhere. He says, “We sit in Silicone Valley next to Google and Apple and the like, and they achieve nowhere near the results that we do. Print has a bright future, and EFI fully intends to play a big part in that future.”

EFI is the world’s biggest MIS developer, one of the biggest W2P developers, a major workflow developer, and it has digital presses in the wide format, ceramics and labels market. It is also the world’s number one rip developer, with its Fiery brand. It is an acquisition hungry business, in the last two years it has bought Australian MIS developer Prism, Australian W2P developer online Print Solutions and Australian imposition software developer Metrix. Mallozzi says, “EFI integrates, and produces solutions that will position printers to grow.”

Mallozzi says, “I have really enjoyed talking to Australian printers this time around. There is an air of optimism here, and that is backed up by their workloads. EFI had its best ever six months in Australia during the second half of last year, and we see that trend continuing.”
