Blue Print unveils latest Mimaki UV flatbed

Blue Print Imaging is introducing Mimaki’s latest LED UV cold curing flatbed inkjet printer the JFX to the New Zealand market.

Mimaki launched the printer internationally in December 2013, the company says the machine is aimed towards the entry level end of the market focusing on direct print on substrates up to 1220mm X 2440mm and up to 50mm thick. It features a newly developed print head; energy-efficient and long-lasting LED-UV lamps; and a bulk ink delivery supply system.

Mimaki says the JFX uses variable dot printing combined with Mimaki Advance Pass System which ejects ink between passes resulting in reduced banding appearance with very fine detail at excellent class leading speeds all without that typical coarse dot appearance. Geoff Milliken, director at Blue Print Imaging, says, “Mimaki’s print head control technology ensures high-definition and high-quality prints.

“The JFX has been designed with many user-friendly functions, with ease of operation in mind. For example, the designers have conveniently placed the operation panel, the vacuum valves and the ink supply system on the front load side of the printer so most operations, such as changing the media, switching vacuum, and replacing ink bottles can be done with minimal fuss and time-loss.”

Mimaki provides options on ink and production configurations depending on the niche main production goals being required for end use. LH Ink has exceptional adhesion to hard substrates while LUS Ink has flexibility as its major end use option. A primer is also available if very difficult substrates are a common requirement. All inks offer great chemical and scratch resistance while Mimakis quality offers fine colour repeatability. Ink pricing again make this model a very cost effective proposition Milliken says.

He adds that Mimaki has worked hard to make its offering more sustainable. He says, “UV inks generate little VOC and don’t require any special ventilation. The LED UV lamps use less energy and allow for printing on heat sensitive substrates. The one litre ink bottles also reduce waste leaving a very green footprint.”
