The New Zealand Sign and Display Association says people have four good reasons to get to Auckland this week.
Brian Fairchild, secretary of the NZSDA, says, “To begin with, Sign NZ Expo, starts at the Aotea Centre on Friday. Also the NZSDA conference runs alongside the Expo. Third, the New Zealand Sign and Display Awards night will take place at the Rendezvous Hotel on Saturday night.
“Our fourth big reason is the car wrapping competition we are hosting to find a team to defend the Trans-Tasman title that G.A.S won last year. We will see five Sangyong Utes wrapped over two days.”
On Friday, three teams will vie for the right to take on the G.A.S team on Saturday. Fairchild says that, with the Exxpo exhibition space sold out, the NZSDA can concentrate on running a solid show and conference.
He says, “We have got strong sponsorship. Uniscreen is the platinum sponsor, joined by gold sponsors Total and Textiles Alive. The support from our sponsors means that we can put on a must attend event.”
NZSDA sees the Expo as a trade show, “for real.” Fairchild says, “It serves an invaluable purpose for signies and for printers who can save time and money by not having to travel to overseas shows. They spend less travelling to Auckland than flying to Asia or Europe.
“We want those who come to the Sign NZ Expo use the occasion for maximum gain. We have a decent range of exhibitors and we will have machines running on the floor with discussions about the industry going on as well. It’s a fantastic chance for industry members to talk about the issues that are important to them.”

Fairchild concludes, “Feedback indicates that we can expect a good number of visitors. Networking is an invaluable tool. While there is a cost involved in leaving your business for a day, what you are going to learn far outweighs that cost.”
