The 2014 Australian Packaging Design Awards are now open for entries, on the hunt for creative, imaginative and innovative packaging designs.
This year’s categories include food, beverage, health and beauty, household and office, industrial and supply chain, and seasonal and promotional. There are also outstanding achievement awards in innovation, sustainability, design and accessibility – as well as a new award for consumer experience and emerging technologies, which may include packaging that keeps food fresher for longer, or interaction with QR codes, interactive feedback or integrated technology.
The competition is open to brand owners, designers, retailers, manufacturers and raw material suppliers to enter their creations, and is run by the Packaging Council of Australia
The PCA says participating in the awards has assisted companies to launch new products into the market, improve their corporate positioning, increase their business profile and build media and brand awareness.
Gold, silver, bronze and highly commended winners gain the opportunity to enter the WorldStar packaging awards. Australian packagers last year brought home three WorldStar Awards, with Australian Inhibitor for its Preservation of Mona Lisa bag, Coca-Cola Amatil’s Powerade bottle and Taylors Wines’ Wine in Tube.
In 2013 Aussie companies scored six WorldStar Awards; with three won by Outerspace Design for its Hydralyte Sports, Daily Juice on the go range and Sprout mobile phone accessories packaging.
Registration for this year’s Australian contest closes on Friday August 22, with a presentation to be held in late November.
