Auspack innovation for today's packagers

Asia Pacific Packaging magazine will be at Auspack 2003 from September 30 to October 3 on stand #727. The exhibition promises visitors a swag of new technologies and products to view. Asia Pacific Packaging picks out some of the new highlights.
Accuweigh - stand 104
Sentry XR: Sentry XR is the latest addition to the Sentry Detection range. The Sentry XR combines proprietary x-ray technology and enhanced functionality, all at a lower cost than every seen before. This system is set to firmly establish x-ray inspection as a cost-effective alternative to other inspection methods.

Aliquad Air Shaft: Aliquad lightweight airshaft, designed and manufactured in Australia, to suit 3" cores for unwind and rewind applications for the packaging, printing and associated industries.
Alilite Air Shaft: Alilite 6" airshaft is a lightweight style of shaft for unwine and rewind applications. Alilite airshaft is a lighter alternative to steel airshafts.
Ezy-Chuck: Ezy-Chuck is a safety holder used to hold airshafts in position on unwind/rewind applications, ensuring safe loading and unloading of rolls on assorted machinery.

Carter Holt Harvey - stand 411
KX2 Thermal Insulated Paper Cup: IP Foodservice (a joint venture with Carter Holt Harvey Packaging Australia) has just launched a new paper cup in the US which insulates your hand from heat transfer, providing a much more comfortable drinking experience. Called the "KX2", it is created using a unique process which effectively aerates the paper using granules of polyethylene. This aeration significantly reduces the amount of heat transferred from the hot drink to your hand, allowing you to hold the cup comfortably for two minutes or more. Research conducted on the cups shows it significantly outperforms competitors in a number of areas, including look, feel, consumer perception of quality, comfort and insulation ability.
Twinpack: An innovative first to Australia and to CHH Packaging, Twinpack is a multipacking solution which uses adhesive tape to package beverage products together and applies a tape handle. It is a cost effective way of lifting volume. Whilst retailers can sell one multipack unit through the checkout with one bar code, consumers also have the benefit of an easy to carry pack to take home.

Meto MR 4206 Mid-Range Thermal Printer: The MR4206 is the newest addition to the Meto family of printers. The MR4206 combines industry-recognised engineering and a superior design, borrowed from the industry-leading Meto MI-Class of printers. Grip Sheet: Grip Sheet is a non-slide, protective insert paper sheet used to reduce breakages and protect products distributed on pallets. Grip Sheet reduces slips between layers.

Ferag - stand 405
Easy Clean Conveyor: Being launched at Auspack the chain driven Slip-Torque Conveyor is recommended for thorough wash or wipe down conveying applications in industries such as bakery, meat, dairy, pharmaceutical and healthcare. Test results from a study conducted by Purdue University’s Department of Food Science confirm that the Easy Clean conveyor will not be a source of contamination when cleaned and sanitised using Shuttleworth prescribed procedures.

InMotion Airveyor – Bottle Conveyor: The InMotion Airveyor was designed for the rapid stable conveying and accumulation of plastic beverage bottles by compressed air. An innovative fresh solution to an old concept. This modular machine is constructed from extruded aluminium section, with snap together pieces known as the "Plenum". This helps with rapid assembly and easy future modification if required. The air blowers are also modularised for easy fitment and future relocation. The blower design has been engineered for low noise and a reduced power requirement, which is ultimately cheaper to run. The InMotion Airveyor is available with a variety of product guides, dependent on the types of products being conveyed. K700 Thermal Transfer Ribbons: Kurz Australia is showing a first class thermal transfer ribbon direct from Kurz production facilities. High print definition ribbons are available for most printers, (the product is IS09001 certified), and full technical after sales backup is available.
The Kurz K700 Thermal transfer ribbon for inline printing has undergone exhaustive overseas testing on a range of inline thermal transfer printers, to ensure that it meets the company’s high standards.
After successfully establishing the effectiveness of the slip coating deployed on the product, Kurz technical staff pressed on until not only did they produce a ribbon with consistent image density at high speed, (K700 has a maximum speed of 600mm per second), but also at 300mm per second provides a clearer and darker print image than its competitor’s products.
K700 is realistically priced and readily available (in various lengths and widths), on either cardboard or plastic cores, depending on your requirements.
