Rapak, a manufacturer of liquid bag-in box packaging and filling systems has opened a new manufacturing facility in Chachoengsao, Thailand.

The new facility is located 20 minutes from Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport and is has been built to service customers in the South East Asian region.

Santi Khunpisitwong, general manager of Rapak Thailand says, “Rapak Thailand will provide local customers with more than just a regional focus, as its strategic location near various irradiation facilities and Thailand’s larger shipping port Laem Chabang provides an efficient supply chain that customers will benefit from.”

Khunpisitwong says, “The new facility has been built to the highest standards including clean room environments for bag manufacturing and will be focusing in the manufacturing of aseptic bag-in box products and has great potential of expanding its product offer to other emerging market segments for bag in box such as Quick Serve Restaurant (QSR) and Food Service.”

Rapak is a business unit of DS Smith Plastics which focuses on six main areas: Liquid packaging and dispensing; rigid packaging; fresh produce packaging; temperature-controlled packaging; foam products and print solutions

Simon Mander, managing director of Rapak Asia Pacific says, “Bag-in-Box packaging solutions are expected to continue to grow as customers and end users become more familiar with its demonstrated environmental credentials, variety of dispensing applications and cost advantages over other traditional forms of liquid packaging. These factors will underpin the growth of our business here in the South East Asian region and beyond.”
