Agfa unleashes the Power of Print

Agfa Gevaert  appointments  Agfa

Agfa is calling for entries for the seventh annual "The Power of Print" contest for students aged 17 to 30. This design contest draws in entries from all over the world, with organisers expecting this year’s event to continue the vein of success and high standards set by the previous contests.

Contestants must create an A2 poster that expresses how print has influenced them and its audiences. The six best entries will be published on the Agfa website, as well as being printed out on large-format printing presses at next year’s drupa tradeshow in Dusseldorf, Germany. Winners will also be invited for an all expenses paid to Belgium for a series of educational workshops, as well as sightseeing and shopping.

"While alternative media seem more exciting, print still offers the most versatile and cost-effective means of reaching various publics," says Ronald Marien, Agfa director of marketing communications.

"We want to encourage young designers to take advantage of all the medium has to offer, rather than focus all their attentions on newer web-based alternative. We are also committed to helping our customers to encourage their clients to revisit the power of print."

Entries close on February 29, 2004. Inspiration and competition rules are provided at www.agfa.com/aycc/2003.
