Amid the hustle and bustle of Visual Impact/Image Expo, was the excitement of the annual Australian Sign and Graphics Awards (ASGA). The black tie event was held at the Sydney Convention Centre on September 2 and is designed to encourage and promote high standards of design and execution of all aspects of sign making and attain excellence in production.

In previous years the ASGA event has only been a small event, attracting around 40 entries, but this year’s launch of the new events programme brought in more than 250 entries from all over the country.

ASGA’s pool of independent judges had the difficult task of awarding gold silver and bronze in each of the 20 categories.
All judging is blind and the awards are based on merit, so should the judges see fit, they may award more than one of the medals or none of the medals in any category.

Several companies managed to take home a swag of medals, including Sydney’s Art and Soul Design who was awarded the most number of gold medals with three. NSW businesses Signaction from Kingsgrove and Coleman Group from Canterbury, were each awarded two gold, one silver and two bronze.

Other multiple medal winners were SignCo Manufacturing from Ryde, NSW; Millennium Signs from Brown Plains, QLD; Expressway Signs from Cairns, QLD; Smart Artz from Moorebank, NSW; and Central Signs from Kirrawee, NSW.
