David Catt has been appointed as the new Australian Printer news editor, underlining the magazine’s commitment to maintaining its position as the Australian print media news leader. In the last year Australian Printer published more news stories than all other print media titles combined. In fact at some 735 it published more than twice as many as all other titles put together.

Anders Oqvist, AP publisher says, "A key plank in our strategy to deliver valuable market information to the print industry is news. We have invested strongly in our news resources over the past two years, and the result speaks for itself, Australian printers know there is one primary source for industry news - if it is happening we’ll report it in Australian Printer. We are very pleased to be able to appoint David Catt to this vital position, he has proved in his time with us that he has the ability and the determination to deliver an industry leading news service."

Catt has been on staff at AP for the past 18 months as a reporter. During that time he has been given increasing responsibility for the news section in the magazine, building his contacts and becoming well known around the industry.

Australian Printer is the only print media title with full-time dedicated news staff., eschewing the trend towards freelancers pulling news off the internet, believing instead there is no substitute for a person on the ground. Associate publisher Brian Moore says, "Despite all the challenges facing it print is still the most exciting industry to be part of, and one in which new opportunities will continue to arise. Printers looking to understand what is happening around them will find the news pages of Australian Printer, under David Catt’s hand, will provide an invaluable insight into the dynamics affecting their present and future business activities."
