To facilitate long-term planning, the organisers of drupa – the specialised section for printing and paper equipment and supplies within the VDMA (German Machinery and Plant Manufacturers Association), and Messe Düsseldorf – have already fixed the dates for drupa 2008: The 14th print media fair will take place in Düsseldorf from May 29 to June 11 2008. "We felt it was important to fix the concrete timeframe for drupa 2008 this early to give the entire industry long-term planning certainty," said Holger Reichardt (Chairman of the specialised section for printing and paper equipment and supplies within the VDMA).

There’s also positive news to report about drupa 2004, taking place from May 6 to 19 2004: Despite extreme investment restraint and the general global downturn, drupa is already booked out and a "waiting list" has been set up for firms still wishing to exhibit. Around 1,800 exhibitors – from global market leaders to small innovative businesses – will be demonstrating what the world market has to offer the printing, media and paper converting industry on over 160,000 square metres of net floor space.

"This illustrates clearly the major importance that drupa holds; it’s both an economic engine and a barometer of our industry," says Albrecht Bolza-Schünemann, Dipl.-Ing., President of drupa 2004, emphasising the relevance of the print media fair.

New challenges in trade fair organisation and ongoing technological developments in the realm of media will need to be taken into account in the future design of drupa, the industry’s flagship fair. Messe Düsseldorf and the specialised section for printing and paper equipment and supplies within VDMA will be pursuing these goals jointly in a newly defined partnership.
