Dobija Design & Publishing (DDP) has overcome the tyranny of distance to pick up two major business awards in less than a month. Operating out of Griffith, in south central NSW, DDP was awarded the 2004 Champion of Champions Small Business Award in the Business Services category at the 6th Annual Small Business Awards held in Sydney. Champion of Champions is the most prestigious and widely recognised programme of its kind in the country, and rewards the achievements of small business across NSW and the ACT.

The programme is supported by major sponsor Westpac, and associate sponsors MYOB and CPA Australia. More than 1000 people attended the awards presentation, including Joe Hockey, the Federal Minister for Small Business and Tourism, and two Australian Olympic gold medallists who presented awards on the night.

Businesses were judged on their history, marketing and promotions strategy, customer service, community involvement, growth and achievements, staff training and motivation, and business highlights of the past 12 months.

Josh Dobija says he is honoured to receive the accolade, particularly since the majority of entrants in the category were Sydney based.

"The business has grown remarkably in the past eight years and I attribute its success to the dedicated efforts of our team and loyal customers," he says.

DDP followed this up by winning the Award for Excellence in Print and Design at the Canberra Region Graphics Arts Awards. This award acknowledges individuals and businesses for their contribution to the graphic arts industry in the ACT and regional NSW.

It was hosted by the Canberra Institute of Technology, the Australian Graphic Design Association and the Printing Industries Association of Australia (PIAA).

Dobija says this second award proved that hard work pays off. "Our team has given their best over the eight years of operation and we have been rewarded in the last few weeks," he says.

DDP has focused on business development by establishing a reputation for consistently high standards of service delivery and has clients throughout the Griffith region, and as far afield as Sydney and Melbourne.
