Diamond Pure-Pak takes innovation award

The new Diamond Pure-Pak carton from Elopak has won the prestigious World Juice Innovation Award 2003 for the ’Best Innovation in Packaging and Processing’. Presented at the World Juice Conference 2003 in Amsterdam, the new Portion Pack from Elopak was voted the Best Innovation in Packaging and Processing by an expert panel from the world juice industry, who judged all the entries for convenience, design, quality and the added value it presents to the consumer.

The award recognises Elopak’s constant new product development and innovation in both packaging solutions and filling and processing technology. The Diamond Pure-Pak carton from Elopak is a new and convenient packaging solution for premium positioning, available in 250ml, 330ml and 500ml sizes. The company says it is attractive and easy to carry, making it perfect for the new nomadic lifestyle. Its new wider screwcap has a greater pouring ability, which is important for viscous products such as juice with pulp
.

Stora Enso looks to board CD packaging
CDRs and DVDs on sale at major stores have traditionally been packed in plastic jewel boxes, but the Discbox Slider (DBS) made of cartonboard is becoming an important challenger. Memorex, the world’s largest seller of recordable CDR, will bring DBS cases onto the Canadian market in the fall of this year. The DBS provides major retailers with a cost-efficient, strong, space-saving case which stands out thanks to its excellent design. Stora Enso Activation, which owns the patent to the DBS system, also aims to achieve a breakthrough in the US market where billions of blank recordable CDRs and DVDs are sold each year.		   Metso agrees Bobst sale
Metso Corporation has agreed on the sale of its Converting group to Swiss Bobst Group for estimated amount of Euro75m, with the final price being determined on the balance sheet values at the closing date. The regulatory approval processes have been initiated immediately. The Converting group will be integrated into the Bobst Group at the end of this process, which is expected to be completed at the end of December.
