Over the last 22 years, central Auckland-based The Print Shop has established its reputation for excellence in everything it prints. Traditionally specialising in corporate stationery, the company’s attention to detail has earned it no fewer than 18 Pride In Print awards. Traditionally however, there were some jobs that were out of its reach. Complex four colour jobs that it couldn’t realistically compete for, given its lack of a four or more colour press. So The Print Shop’s Colin McGinley started shopping around for a machine to solve that problem. Last month, Alex Peters Machinery solved it for him, installing a 1999 Heidelberg Speedmaster SM52-5P3.

It has brought instant results for The Print Shop. Even before the press was running, McGinley had confirmed a job for the new press that he says he "could never have even quoted on before," for an eight page, four colour process corporate brochure, with a print run pushing 100,000. "Having the Speedmaster allows me to talk to customers that I could never have dreamed of and to produce higher quality than was ever possible in the past."
