In line with Focus Press’s commitment to cleaner production and environmentally friendly printing, the Sydney-based company has proudly announced that it is the first major sponsor to support the Buying Green Means Business Conference and Exhibition in November 2004. The conference will be hosted by the Department of Environment and Conservation (NSW), with whom Focus Press has consulted in relation to cleaner production, sustainable use of materials and environmentally friendly processes.

David Fuller, Focus Press managing director, says he is delighted to be involved with such an important event.

"This gives Focus Press an opportunity to showcase our processes and procedures to a number of companies who share our concern for the environment," Fuller says.

The three main aims of the exhibition are to establish national voluntary targets for green purchasing across all sectors, open the lines of communication between green suppliers and purchasers from all sectors and generally establish voluntary agreements across business sectors to advance green purchasing on a national basis.

"It was a logical step for Focus Press to be involved as a major sponsor of this event as we have been at the forefront of cleaner production and green printing for many years. The Buying Green Means Business conference will give an opportunity to show government departments and the corporate sector how buying green can save them money and help the environment at the same time," Fuller says.

"Our business is built on minimising our impact on the environment and over the past few years we have attracted print contracts worth millions of dollars from companies that share our vision of a cleaner environment."

"Our main message at the conference will be to show emphatically that there is no compromise in quality and that in most cases it is cheaper to produce environmentally friendly printing than to use traditional printing methods."
