Hot on the heels of receiving a national Endeavour Award for Best Environmental Solution from prestigious magazine Manufactures’ Monthly, Focus Press has received further recognition of its achievements with a Business Achievement Award from PrintNSW. At an award ceremony in Sydney on September 10, Focus Press was presented with the ‘Winner of Best in Environmental Initiatives’ award for 2004.

David Fuller, Focus Press managing director, says, "Our commitment to cleaner production and developing environmental solutions for the entire printing industry is paying dividends for us.

"We are proud to be recognised by our peers and Australian manufactures for our initiatives and efforts in promoting processes and procedures to lower the impact of the print industry on the environment in a cost effective manner.

"While we continue to look at all aspects of our business, to find better ways to print in an environmentally manner, I have to give credit to all the staff at Focus Press for their commitment to better environmental practices."

Fuller believes that awards such as the Manufactures’ Monthly and Print Industry Association awards bring environmental achievements into the mainstream.

"Government departments are now focusing on supply chain and the environmental impacts of government purchasing. This follows on a real desire in the community to see all aspects of government and industry being more environmentally responsible. By rewarding companies and industries for making an effort in cleaner production and environmental excellence, it encourages everyone to make environmental issues a priority and to promote their achievements," he says.

Environmental processes and procedures as well as cleaner production, continues to be a priority at Focus Press. The company has invested heavily in environmentally friendly equipment and undertaken extensive research into ecologically responsible procedures and practices which could be implemented by the printing industry.
