Industry association GASAA is hosting a free event covering digital asset management, with the added bonus of free drinks. Date is Wednesday March 2, time is 5:30-7:00pm, venue is YWCA’s Y on the Park Hotel, 5-11 Wentworth Ave, Sydney. Parking is available at Goulburn St (Wilson) - cnr of Goulburn & Elizabeth Streets – for the cost of $8 after 5pm.

The evening features Ricky Patten from DataBasics, and Julian Pefanis from the University of Sydney. The event will delve into the production aspects of DAM. GASAA says as time constraints tighten, our greatest value to our clients is how efficiently we manage their digital assets.

Ricky Patten will look at what is DAM, the importance of metadata (information about the file); digital rights issues; valuing assets and compliance with major metadata standards, for example IPTC, XMP, XML, AGLS/Dublin Core.

Julian Pefanis will present how DAM Software is used by his department to deliver digital assets throughout the student community.
