Dr Josef Schneider, executive vice president of the Digital Printing Systems business unit at MAN Roland Druckmaschinen AG, has been awarded the Johann Gutenberg Prize from the Society for Information Display and the Society for Imaging Science and Technology (IS&T).
The jury awarded the prize to Dr. Schneider in recognition of his many innovative contributions to the application of computer-aided printing systems for conventional and electronic printing processes. The award acknowledged above all Dr. Schneider’s invention and development work for the process and products of the DICO (Digital Change Over) technologies such as DICO Offset and DICO Gravure, and implementation of the technology in the DICOweb.

The "Johann Gutenberg Prize" is a joint foundation of SID and IS&T and is co-sponsored by Hewlett Packard. Dr Schneider accepted the prize in Amsterdam in May at the International Conference on Digital Production Printing and Industrial Applications – DPP 2005 held by IS&T.
