A new capstan based imagesetter for 4-up format jobs, the :Avanxis IV has been introduced by Agfa.

Positive and negative films can be ouput in resolutions of 1000 to 3000 dpi as well as Agfa :Setprint Plus polyester printing plates. The on-line processor with the bridgeless design can output a B2 page in 30 seconds at 1200 dpi, Agfa claims.

Equally new and available immediately is the new :Avanxis VIII imagesetter for 8-up format jobs. The output resolution of the external drum device is 1200 to 4000 dpi. Agfa claims that the external drum system used in the :Avanxis VIII ensures high precision and excels at difficult tasks such as multiple separations of a single page on the same sheet of media. As Jorgen Vad, managing director of Agfa Asia Pacific explains, this is made possible by preventing film distortion with a low-stress loading system that puts minimal tension onto the media during the loading process.

The speed of the new 8-up imagesetter is 17 to 20 flats per hour. Agfa expects both new imagesetters to be accepted well, especially in China and Korea.
