New Zealand Proprint has ceased publication after a year-and-a-half in the market. New Zealand-based associate editor Ann Callahan could not be reached for comment, but will no longer be involved with the magazine in New Zealand. “We don’t really want to put our resources over there (New Zealand) for a smaller market,” Elliot says, “although it’s still an important market.”

Elliot cites several factors, including the small size of the New Zealand advertising market and intense competition in the Australian market as strains on company resources, forcing the rethink. While he is tight-lipped on just how much New Zealand content will be carried in the new version of Australian Proprint, Elliot says there “won’t be a lot” in the next issue.

The first issue of New Zealand Proprint was published in July 2002. The last was in October 2003.

The closure came as a surprise to many in the industry who were waiting for the December 2003 issue.
