Pegasus Printing, a member of the AAB Holdings group, has bought the majority shareholding in high profile printing and mailing specialist, Mailing and Print Services (MAPS) for an undisclosed sum from owner Bruce Meers. As part of the deal, Meers will stay on as managing director of MAPS for the next three years. Both companies are located in Sydney, Pegasus in Blacktown to the west, and MAPS in Frenchs Forest to the north. MAPS staff have been told that their jobs are safe, with the likelihood that both locations will be kept operating for the foreseeable future.The acquisition gives Pegasus the prepress and mailing facilities it lacked, as well as a fleet of modern B1 presses. Pegasus had been placing an increasing volume of sheetfed work with MAPS in recent months as its print volumes had been increasing well past its own capacity, while MAPS had been looking for extra work.
Pegasus grew out of the original Woolworth’s inplant facility and specialised in servicing the print needs of retailers with complete print packages, from concept and artwork through to warehousing and distribution. The company has extensive offset, digital and screen printing resources and among other products, prints bags, tickets, tags, labels and point-of-sale material, including posters. Prior to the MAPS acquisition, Pegasus relied on two five-colour Heidelberg Speedmaster presses for high quality offset work.
Over 30 years, MAPS evolved from a traditional offset printing company to an award-winning organisation delivering a range of communications solutions, including offset and digital printing, personalisation, database management, mailing and logistics.
