Valmet Converting will present a comprehensive range of technology and process solutions for the global labelstock industry at the LabelExpo Europe 2003 exhibition, in Brussels, September 24-27. The latest Atlas technology will be shown, which includes a new rewinding technique for filmic/synthetic material as low as 60 micron, at speeds in excess of 600m/min (1970ft/min). Enhanced automation systems also dramatically reduce machine down-time for change-overs, says Valmet.

The Titan secondary slitter rewinders for flexible packaging materials, paper, film and labelstock will also be shown. It provides the smaller, versatile Titan SR7 cantilever slitter rewinder with more flexibility, Quick Shaft differential rewinds and rapid job change-overs for shorter production runs. Features include up to 1800mm web widths, AC drives as standard, laser core positioning, auto knife positioning, 600-800mm rewind diameter and running at up to 600m/min.

Valmet will also highlight Rotomec hot melt coating technology, with extensive experience in the development of water-based & silicone coatings for labelstock. This includes all coating methods, drying systems, substrate treatment & efficient web handling technologies developed in conjunction with Rotomec gravure printing presses.

Also on show will be General, which has developed the Holosec vacuum web coater. The Holosec combines all General’s vacuum web coating technology in one neat and compact production unit for specialist producers.

Finally, Valmet will exhibit its wide range of sheeting solutions for paper, board, film and labelstock laminates. Valmet Sheeters have been developed with a modular design to allow each machine to be tailored to meet customers’ requirements without major cost or delivery penalties.
