Vutek, the leading supplier of superwide format digital inkjet printers, has produced 44 external superwide banners for drupa 2004. These official drupa banners will be installed in and around the city of Düsseldorf to direct traffic to the Messe, and advertise the world’s leading graphic arts exhibition. In addition to the drupa banners, Vutek has been chosen by Deutscher Drucker Publishing House, the organiser, to host the large format drupa 2004 Highlight Tours (Tour 9). Delegates on these tours will be shown the industries leading developments, products and applications for high quality superwide printing on rigid and flexible substrates.

Using the UltraVu 3360 EC’s three-metre width to print the banners, Vutek doubled the machines productivity by using the two rolls-up configuration. This allowed Vutek to print two large banners simultaneously, maximising efficiency and enabling it to meet the tight deadline. Utilising its eight-colour capabilities, Vutek was also able to ensure consistent high quality colour for an accurate match of the drupa red.

Hans Mjartaen, Messe-Dusseldorf, production manager, says, "We are extremely pleased with the Vutek printed banners. For us, the management of this job was hassle free and painless. Vutek was thoroughly professional and a pleasure to work with. It had a clear understanding of our requirements and was able to meet all our objectives.

"The consistent reproduction of the drupa red throughout all promotional materials is very important to us. As such, we were extremely pleased with the Vutek printers ability to match this colour and deliver high quality text.

" We received all 44 banners on time, and are currently installing the graphics. This was a good result for both Vutek and drupa 2004."

Produced at Vutek’s Headquarters in New Hampshire, USA, over 424sqm of graphics measuring 520x170cm, were printed on self-adhesive vinyl by the Vutek UltraVu 3360 EC.

Completed in only 12 hours and 30 minutes, the banners were shipped to Germany for finishing and installation along main entrance roads to Düsseldorf. Each banner carries show information and a Vutek logo.

According to Chuck Meservey, Vutek Demo Centre Manager, the job went like a dream, ‘Printing the drupa banners was easy – the machines performed flawlessly. Due to the UltraVu 3360 EC’s ease of use and reliability, it was simply a case of standing back and waiting for it to finish."

Jane Cedrone, Vutek PR and Marketing communications manager, says, "We were delighted to have been chosen to sponsor this job. To be one of the official show ‘production’ partners is very prestigious, and we believe that this honor further supports our position as superwide market leader.

"Despite having been produced to a very tight deadline, there was no compromise on color quality or image resolution. These benefits are typical of all Vutek printers, and provide a significant competitive advantage to all Vutek customers.’’
