The MACtac international range of self-adhesive products will now be supported in New Zealand by the full resources and customer service capability of the BJ Ball Papers national network as the result of the recent acquisition of the sole distributor, MAKtec Ltd of Auckland. MAKtec owners and co-directors Michael Kirby and Les Atkinson introduced the European made MACtac medallist (rolls) and MACprint (sheets) to this country and has sold them here since 2002 together with filmic and screen products from Intercoat of Germany.

BJ Ball CEO Andrew Bull said the company’s additional resources and national network would significantly enhance MACtac’s market presence and the level of support offered to its customers.

"Our strategy is to become involved in new sectors and the self-adhesive area is one of these," Mr Bull said. "This move, which strengthens both the MAKtec and BJ Ball operations, represents a further broadening of our footprint within the industry."

Les Atkinson, a current director of MAKtec, will continue to run the business as a division within BJ Ball reporting to Mr Bull.

He said the changeover has been carefully planned to ensure it will be seamless for MAKtec customers.
