A digital printing company in East Tamaki that has been up and running only four years has been named a finalist for its services to the community in Manukau City's prestigious Westpac Business Awards.

Digital and Printing Solutions was nominated by Enterprising Manukau for its sponsorship of various local charities including YES, the Youth Education Services run by police in local schools.

The company was entered by Enterprising Manukau and will find out next month if it has a win in the country's biggest business awards.

The awards were started 15 years ago by Manukau City Council to encourage and assist business growth and development.

Mayor Sir Barry Curtis says he is proud of the city's business community and its achievements.

"We have many of the leading companies in New Zealand based here in Manukau and they contribute greatly to the city creating thousands of jobs a year to drive our local economy," he says.

Winners will be announced at a gala dinner at the TelstraClear Pacific Events Centre on August 24.

Digital & Printing Solutions Ltd is a small company that began operating in October 2003 offering digital copying to printing and design.

It has since grown in both turnover and staff.

Director Tina Taylor says they operate in an Auckland wide market, providing digital printing for customers from Albany to Pukekohe.

It is the first time they have been nominated for a business excellence award.
