The Roland MPX-70 Photo Impact Printer has won the prestigious DIMA Innovative Digital Product Award at the Sneak Peak press event held before the 2006 PMA Show in Orlando, Florida. This “Best in Show” style award recognizes new products that improve the photography industry with innovative digital technologies.

The MPX 70 Photo Impact Printer allows retail photo shops and professional photography studios to offer customers a wide range of personalized giftware. The desktop device uses a unique technology to imprint durable impressions into jewellery, pendants, key chains, clothing and charms.

“The MPX-70 lets photographers grow their business with a wide range of personalized giftware,” said Neil Zdunkawicz, Roland ASD marketing manager. “We are thrilled that it earned DIMA’s Innovative Digital Product Award, which is known throughout the industry for recognizing top-performing technologies.”

The printer works by imprinting digital images into hard acrylic and metal surfaces, including aluminium, stainless steel, brass, gold, silver and platinum. The desktop device uses an advanced carbide-tipped stylus to strike the surface with high speed and precision. It accurately reproduces the delicate gradations of halftone images, line art and text.

The MPX-70 produces brilliant, photo-realistic graphics in three different modes. Text mode delivers 265dpi output, photo mode achieves 353dpi, and the high-resolution mode pulls off an amazing 529dpi. Pendants can be produced in less than six minutes.

With a USB port, the MPX-70 sets up as easily as a desktop printer. Once it’s up and running, the desktop device is ready to imprint in just three quick steps. Import an image via scanner or digital camera. Layout and edit the graphics. And press print.

The 10th Annual DIMA Innovative Digital Product Awards honour unique products featured at the PMA 2006 International Convention & Trade Show. Digital imaging editors who judged exhibiting products selected only 17 out of the hundreds of digital products on display. For the first time in the event’s history, winners were announced at the Sneak Peak press event held the day before the PMA Show on February 25. This allowed show attendees to easily identify the most innovative products in 2006.

Roland Advanced Solutions Division is a division of Roland DGA Corporation, an industry leader in wide-format printing and integrated print/cut technology. It develops solutions for the sign making, engraving, jewellery design and CAD/CAM industries.
