Soar Printing has secured a deal to purchase Hollands Printing Auckland for an undisclosed sum. Hollands will operate as a separate brand in the meantime, continuing to service its clients predominantely in Auckland’s inner-city area, in the A2 and A3 market.

Early next year Soar intends to relocated the group’s finished goods warehouse to Holland’s premises in Khyber Pass Road premises.

Established in 1982 by Wally Simpson and Steve Hurdley, Hollands Printing employs 10 staff operating A2 and A3 presses along with letterpress, finishing equipment, computer to plate and digital printing. All Hollands Staff have been offered full employment by the Soar Group.

Soar Printing was established in 1920, and continues as a family owned and operated business. Headed by Fred Soar, the company has expanded its operation in recent years and has evolved to be one of the largest privately owned printing companies in New Zealand.

As part of their long term objectives, Soar saw the opportunity to acquire Hollands Printing as an important one for their group given their quality and location of client base, the company says.

Fred Soar adds that the company has focused on providing customers new ways of producing printed products by staying technically ahead of its competitors and “offering the edge that many clients are looking for in today’s environment

“Our recent decision to purchase the world’s leading printing press, the Speedmaster XL 105, will change the way clients look at printing in the future,” he says.

“This press is so revolutionary that it offers options and quality that have never been seen before. We expect to be up and running with the XL 105 by the end of February 2007.”

The XL105 will be the first of its kind in New Zealand. Larger than A1 it has the ability to add 35% amount of spare capacity to the group, Mr Soar adds.

“The decision to bring Hollands on board was timely, as we see their mix of clients and work generated ideal to feed the extra capacity provided by the new XL 105.”

With the new acquisitions, Soar Printing says its able to offer a true one stop solution from variable data digital printing, conventional printing, to large format poster printing.

“We see this mix as an important one as clients are under increasingly tight deadlines and need to deal with fewer people to ensure campaigns go out on time. Our in-house operation will allow Hollands Printing to offer new solutions to their clients that have not been possible in the past.”
