A&R’s FS ‘Promise’ won the European Carton Makers Carton of the Year Award
A&R Cartons was awarded the Carton of the Year Award at the recent European Carton Makers Annual Congress in Italy. Judges said A&R’s entry FS ’Promise’ featured an eye catching shape, texture and print quality, leading to its win over 130 other entries.
"It is a really astonishing piece of art and craft," said the judges. "The surface is a complex and compelling series of effects, well designed and equally well executed. It is a pack that brings together the full range of possibilities into one cohesive and interesting carton."
Produced for the Russian market, the winning pack is a hexagonal construction holding a bottle of the same shape printed litho in six colours with gold and Iriodin lacquer finishes. Hot foil blocking on both sides combined with embossing was used for point of sale impact and the top closure allows easy removal and replacement of the bottle.
The cartonboard for the outer carton was produced by Stora Enso and for the inner carton by Mayr Melnhof.
Chairman of the Jury of the Pro Carton/ECMA award, Allan Boyle, says the huge varieties of entries in this year’s competition demonstrated that board has truly become a medium for competitive differentiation par excellence.
