AV Flexologic has taken out the best new innovation in prepress at the recent Flexo Tech International Print and Innovations Awards for its FAMM (Fully Automatic Mounting Machine). FAMM has achieved a new height in plate mounting with the fully automated positioning and mounting of flexographic printing plates onto sleeves.

The FAMM mounts plates up to four times faster than the current operator intensive mounting procedures and will reduce printing and platemaking time.

With the fully automatic system excellent repetitive results are also accomplished. At the end of the mounting process the machine will also generate a report on the actual position of the register marks.

Plates only need to be placed onto the mounting table and the FAMM will take care of the rest. The plates are moved and positioned by the manipulator, where a rubber mounting roller equally spreads the pressure over the plate to mount it in register, without any air inclusions.

Michael Tims, from AV Flexologic’s Australian agent DKSH, says, “With the FAMM great time savings with high quality mounting accuracy, make read times on the press will be greatly reduced. Due to the labour and time saving the ROI is very short.”
