Fespa announces award winners

Fespa has announced the winners of its 2014 Awards, which attracted entries from across 24 countries with Asian countries well represented.

This year’s winning pieces included a 60ft wrapped boat; a wrapped cable car; and more than 30 T-shirt entries. Duncan MacOwan, head of new media and events at Fespa, says, “The entries have shown the power of print to create impact across all types of brief. It’s great to have been able to share these shining examples of creativity and best practice, which mirror the Fespa ‘Dive Deeper into Digital’ theme, showing the diverse range of applications made possible by wide format print.”

Asian winners included India’s Marvel Graphic Studio, which won Fine Art Print of the Year. The best in show award went to Zego Promotion & Logistik, from Germany, for its Daft Punk themed varsity jacket entry in the garment decoration of the year category. The garment and special effect categories proved to be the most popular among entrants.

Following months of voting online, the 2014 People’s Choice of the Year award went to A-Design from Russia for its skull T-shirt entry in the garment and functional printing category in which they also won gold.

MacGowan says, “By opening the Fespa Awards to all printers regardless of their membership of a Fespa association, we have given printers from across the world the opportunity to showcase what they can do. The aim of the Awards is to recognise the talent of our global print community and to inspire others. From the quality and breadth of entries I’m sure that this has been the case.”
