Live demonstrations in country Victoria, Adelaide and the Nullarbor, powered by a portable generator, are making sales for equipment distributor Currie Group as its Roadshow truck takes digital printing and finishing gear to printers across Australia.
Bernie Robinson, managing director at Currie Group, says the tour has generated several sales, including a Horizon VAC-1000A collating and finishing unit and SPF 200 L Stitchliner to Bendigo outfit Mullqueen Printing, and a VAC-1000A and Horizon BQ270V perfect binding system to Adelaide’s Express Printers, and Hansen Print & Design at Naracoorte picked up a Horizon CRF 362 creaser/folder.
Next stop on the trip will be the company’s offices in Perth, where visitors will get a first look at Currie’s new TBC-200L top and bottom inline cutting unit for use with SPF systems.
Robinson says the Roadshow provides an opportunity for customers who cannot easily make it to a city showroom to take a look at the latest technology.
He says Currie checks with printers about what they’d most like to see demonstrated before loading up the truck, and throws in some wildcard products they may not have seen before.
The 20 metre-long truck is this year laden with a digital and finishing arsenal, including an HP Indigo 3550, Horizon Creaser/Folder CRF – 362, Horizon Folder AFC – 564A, Horizon Perfect Binder BQ – 280PUR, Horizon Finishing Line SPF – 200L / FC – 200L / VAC – 1000A, Horizon Table Top Folder PF – 40 and a Cron Thermal CTP System.
The final stop, a three-day show in Perth, will be held at 13 Sangiorgio Court, Osborne Park with doors open for April 29-30 and May 1 from 9am to 6pm.
