DES adds PhotoTex adhesive fabrics

DES is expanding its range of PhotoTex adhesive-back fabrics, with two new products suitable for promotions and wall décor now available.

DES says PhotoTex Hi Tac features a strong adhesive for use on textured surfaces and hard-to-stick-to outdoor areas. It can also be used for short promotions on concrete floors. It is suitable for aqueous, eco-solvent, latex and UV print applications.

PhotoTex Block Out can be used to hide marks on walls with printed graphics at 95 per cent opacity according to DES. One version is currently available for aqueous, latex and UV print applications, with a solvent version planned for release later this year.

Kim Harford, product support manager with DES, says the products are suitable for a range of applications, particularly in department stores or domestic spaces, and are not difficult to use. She tells Australian Printer, “It is easy to work with; you don’t necessarily need to have an installer apply it. It is not the same type of adhesive used in vinyl products, which causes air to get trapped under the vinyl. With the PhotoTex products air can still be trapped, but it is easier to lift off and stick it back down again.

“It is actually a textile and doesn’t have any PVC in it, so it is more environmentally friendly. It prints up well.”

According to DES the PhotoTex products do not rip or leave a residue, and can be removed and reused on non-porous flat surfaces including primed walls, over wallpaper, on windows, backlits, doors, concrete pylons and sign boards.

Harford adds that the market is experiencing steady growth, with a current spike due to mid-year sales. She expects another peak towards Christmas.

DES supplies wide format media, printers and colour management services across Australia and New Zealand. It has offices in Sydney, Newcastle, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra and New Zealand.
