Chippendale sets MAN Roland record
Chippendale Printing in Sydney has ordered a second 12-colour Roland 700 perfecting press. Purchased in December 2004, it will join the first press was delivered in April 2004, making it not only the first company in Australia to own two of these printing behemoths, but the first in the world. Already, it was the first in the world to purchase just one of these presses. The new multimillion dollar press is completely identical to the first, printing 12/0 and 6/6 colours, and is expected to be up and running in March this year. It can print at up to 16,000sph in single side printing mode, or 12,000sph in perfecting mode. Maximum sheet format is 740x1040mm.
Kevin Hislop, Chippendale Printing general manager, says, “We became a MAN Roland shop a little while ago, and we received our first 12-colour just under 12 months ago, and we have been very happy with it, so the choice was obvious.”
According to Hislop, the addition of the new press will increase his company’s production by a third, and was a necessary acquisition as incoming work had increased exponentially since the installation of the first 12-colour.
