The times, they are a’ changing for Melbourne’s Colorpak Packaging. Last year saw the company go public very successfully, and the work just keeps flooding in. To handle these increases in volumes, the company has decided, amongst other things, to tackle perceived inefficiencies in its postpress department. However, with the company handling work from some of the country’s most recognisable brand names, any new purchase would have to maintain Colorpak’s record of quality. Concordantly, it has turned to CPI for the capacity injection, with the promise of quality, it needs.

Colorpak Packaging has opted for a Wohlenberg cut-tec 115 guillotine, which has just been installed, and sits alongside the company’s existing Wohlenberg cut-tec 115. The new guillotine has a cutting length of 1150mm, with a knife speed of 50 cycles per minute.

Harry Commins, Colorpak Packaging national manufacturing manager, says, “The Wohlenberg has given us improved productivity and increased our capacity, replacing an older generation machine.
“It’s an excellent brand. The existing machine has given us five years of great service. It’s a reliable product, and the after purchase service is excellent.”

According to Commins, the company has experienced a large increase in work from the pharmaceuticals and cosmetics industries recently, creating the need for the company to expand its capacity.
