Ron Patterson, chairman of the PacPrint 05 board, has announced preliminary figures for PacPrint 05 from a report tabled to the board by Reed Exhibitions last week. Yet to be analysed and receive the final Circulations Audit Board (CAB) stamp, the report states that the event attracted 24,820 trade visits, a drop of 8.9 per cent on the equivalent 2001 figure of 27,245.

“The final analysis will give us a clear understanding of the differentiation in figures and also enable us to determine where our visitors are coming from in a regional context and in respect to the industry segments,” says Patterson.

“What we do know at this stage is that more than 42 per cent of visitors were in senior management, a clear indication that the event attracted key decision makers.

“We can also see a rise in the numbers of designers attending the event, which is a reflection of new technologies that were on display at this year’s show,” concludes Patterson.

A comprehensive report featuring comparative data will be presented to the board at is final meeting to be held mid-August in Melbourne.

PacPrint was presented by the Graphic Arts Merchants Association of Australia (GAMAA) and the Printing Industries Association of Australia (PIAA).

Meanwhile, the next major event on the Australian printing and graphic communications calendar, PrintEx 07, will be held two years from now in May, 2007. PrintEx complements PacPrint, the industry’s major trade event, which is held in Melbourne.

Both are held every four years providing the industry with a platform on which to demonstrate and display the latest in technology and trends.

PrintEx is a compact event held at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour, whereas PacPrint has no limits on space size and is held at the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre.
