Ron Patterson to join PIA
Printing industry identity, Ron Patterson, is to join Printing Industries as general manager Victoria and Tasmania and national sales manager. Patterson has been a member of the last three PacPrint boards as well as chairman of PacPrint 2005, foundation chairman of PrintEx 1999, Printing Industries Victorian regional councillor from 2001 to 2006 and a national councillor from 2002 to 2003.
He has been extensively involved with the National Print Awards and has been a member of GAMAA (Graphic Arts Merchants Association of Australia) since 1990 where he held various positions including vice president and president.
Patterson has been in the printing industry all his working life, having started out as a letter-press/litho apprentice. He moved from an active printing role into the technical sphere in the 1970s then into sales, initially with Collie & Co and later, with FT Wimble.
He went on to serve 11 years with Agfa-Gavaert as national sales manager and then general manager before joining CPI Group as national sales manager and then state manager for Victoria and Tasmania. In 2002, Patterson joined Anitech as state manager. He will join Printing Industries in July on completion of his existing work commitments with AE Hudson Pty Ltd.
Printing Industries CEO, Philip Andersen, says Patterson’s strong sales background, industry knowledge and experience will be of great benefit to the association.
“Ron has spent his working life in the printing industry and has a unique understanding of the traditional print trade, technology and the supply perspective.
“His involvement with industry activities is outstanding and we look forward to his new role continuing to benefit the industry,” Andersen says.
