Designer and manufacturer of stroboscopic surface inspection systems, Unilux has named Joe Zhao as sales manager for China, based in Shanghai.

Zhao will lead the Unilux push into an increasingly sophisticated Chinese printing industry.

"Joe gives us a new dimension in the Chinese printing market," says Mike Simonis, president of Unilux, Inc.

"With his sales, marketing and technical service background, he will be able to demonstrate our inspection systems and work with printing plant owners and production managers to determine the best Unilux strobe light and location for their specific needs.

"Together with Frank Fang, our service manager who services all Unilux equipment in China, we will have one of the strongest, most responsive service and repair facilities for stroboscopic inspection lights in the country."

Before joining Unilux, Zhao worked in technical support and marketing for Printing Mode in Shijiazhuang. He was also regional sales manager for eastern China for a manufacturer of metal forming machinery and systems and was an advertising agency account executive.

He holds an Associate Degree in Manufacturing Equipment Design and Technology from HeBei University of Science and Technology and a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Glorious Sun Business & Management School of Donghua University.

"Unilux has a wide-open market for inspection lights in China," says Zhao.

"We were recently at a trade show for smaller printers and narrow web printers, and there was a lot of interest in our brighter, more powerful lights that can help printers see more details at higher speeds.

"The larger printing companies that produce high-end labels for consumer products and serve zero-tolerance industries, such as tipping papers, are already Unilux worldwide customers who are establishing plants in China.

"We will be able to help them grow here with our service and repair center and with our access to the latest Unilux technology."

Unilux Asia manager, Kirk Nell, says, "Zhao's technical and sales background and his fluency in English will help Unilux better serve its customers by adding value to products and business relationships.

"Joe knows what Unilux inspection lighting systems can do in printing facilities of all sizes.

"He'll be able to provide good feedback for us in developing systems that meet their production needs and budgets.

"Joe will be especially helpful in showing how a powerful, durable light can provide a better life-cycle value that results in more cost-efficient productivity."

The Unilux Lith-O-Light family of stroboscopic inspection lights features five sizes to handle printing inspection needs for wide and narrow webs on presses and finishing equipment moving at full production speeds.

Unilux self-contained inspection systems use high-output, long-linear stroboscopic lamps to spread light evenly across the entire strip. Unilux enables operators to inspect the full web width instead of a small sample with a handheld spot strobe.

Headquartered in Saddle Brook, NJ, USA, Unilux, Inc is in its 45th year of designing and manufacturing industrial surface inspection lighting systems for the printing/converting, metals and papermaking industries and heavy-duty strobe lighting systems for the film and video industry.

The company has sales representatives in 31 countries in North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia, Australia and Africa along with four service centres.
