Oce recently won the prestigious iF Product Design Award for its high speed digital press, the VarioStream 8000.

Only last year the Océ TDS700 printing system reaped an iF Product Design Gold Award for outstanding productivity and innovation in premium industry design.

This year's award winner, the Océ VarioStream 8000, won the award for its blend of innovative design and outstanding digital printing qualities.

Its award-winning design houses one of the fastest and most reliable printing techniques on the market. With an output rate of up to 105m or 750 pages per minute, the high speed Océ VarioStream 8000 is aimed at the transaction and graphic arts markets.

Océ says it is cost-efficient and easy to operate: all functions can be accessed and documented via touchscreen menu, and users can save custom settings to accelerate their workflows.

The VarioStream 8000 also processes Océ CustomTone - so businesses can integrate their own corporate colour into production workflows, or add more printing systems for printing in three colours.

"This year’s iF product design award is an outstanding confirmation of the strategy we have been pursuing for many years: constant innovation combined with smart design," says Peter Wolff, Océ vice president Graphic Arts.

"We engineer all our printing systems with a focus on ease of use and reliability. Océ systems deliver outstanding productivity and feature innovative approaches to real-life business challenges – and that’s what our customers value."

As in previous years, a jury of up to 25 international designers and entrepreneurs chose the winners of the iF product design awards.

First launched in 1954, the iF award is donated by the Hanover Industry Forum and ranks as one of the most prestigious in the world.

It evaluates criteria such as design quality, choice of material and degree of innovation. Factors such as functionality, eco-sustainability, ease of use, safety and brand value are also key.

The award-winning VarioStream 8000 will be shown on the Océ stand at drupa in Düsseldorf from May 29 to June 11.
