Agfa Graphics says the Adobe PDF Print Engine will be incorporated into the next release of the :ApogeeX workflow, version 4.0.
The inclusion in ApogeeX 4.0 of the Adobe PDF Print Engine, which allows PDF files to be rendered natively throughout the workflow, eliminating the need to flatten transparent artwork, enables a more efficient and reliable end-to-end PDF workflow.
With enhanced JDF integration capabilities, :ApogeeX 4.0 offers powerful support for other components of the print production process including MIS systems, presses and finishing equipment.
The new version of :ApogeeX is slated for release in June. The Adobe PDF Print Engine ensures that what appears on-screen is what gets reproduced on paper.
In addition to the Adobe PDF Print Engine, the newest version of the award-winning :ApogeeX workflow includes other solutions that ensure the best possible print production. These solutions include superb tonal reproduction through :Sublima screening, award-winning colour management and :Alterno, Agfa's colour processing technology. These components working together give :ApogeeX the functionality printers need to meet and exceed the quality demands made by designers and publishers.
"Designers and publishers are always keen to try out new functions and techniques to create an eye-catching package, an exciting brochure or glamorous leaflet. It is critical to be able to replicate in print their visions as they designed them on their computers," says Erik Peeters, Worldwide product manager, Agfa Graphics.
"What looks astonishing on creators' monitors has to look the same in print, and :ApogeeX with the Adobe PDF Print engine and the other exclusive technologies does that."
:ApogeeX 4.0 also includes support for PDF layers. Versioning jobs based on PDF layers or spot colours can be set up in a user-friendly manner that includes a comprehensive overview of the actual plate output. With :ApogeeX 4.0, processing versioning jobs can be completely automated.
