Agfa Graphics announced today that its :Energy Elite no-bake plate has received an InterTech Technology Award from the Printing Industries of America/Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (PIA/GATF) for its technical innovation.

The :Energy Elite is a high speed, high quality aluminum thermal plate designed for long press runs without baking. The plate can provide up to 500,000 impressions without baking (up to a million with post-baking), using an advanced, patented emulsion technology that tolerates variations in exposure and processing. Agfa says it has excellent chemical resistance and delivers superb press performance with a wide variety of inks, including UV and hybrid.

Typical customer Timothy Adorno, plant manager of William George Printing in Fayetteville, North Carolina says "With :Energy Elite plates, we have increased our quality, and our customers can see the difference. One of our magazine clients even thought we had started to run their magazine on our sheetfed press. Nothing is more important for us than a satisfied customer, and Agfa's :Energy Elite plates play a major role in our success."

Richard Hill, Agfa's worldwide marketing manager says, "We are very pleased, especially as Agfa was the only company awarded for a CTP product. The :Energy Elite takes thermal plate technology to new levels of performance. The plate market is highly competitive, which makes this honour particularly satisfying. The real winners here are the printers who can now combine ultimate plate quality with ultimate press durability and performance."
