Giclee is headed to Sydney in an impressive form – Adapt. The Australian Digital Art and Photo Technology Exhibition at Fox Studios kicks off this Thursday, and organisers says it’s an event not to be missed. Digital fine art has advanced immensely in recent times, and visitors to Adapt will experience first hand the latest in digital technology, while internationally renowned speakers and experts will be on hand to give advice and demonstrations.

Some of the exhibitors include Baltronics, Cr Kennedy & Co, DES, ENCAD, Epson Australia, Framing and Graphic Art Supplies, GBC Australia, Giclee Media Supplies, Hewlett-Packard Australia, Image Products, Jet Tech Australia, Longbottom Digital Papers and Roland DG.

Among the displays will be Liveprint’s new store that uses digital technology to facilitate virtually instantaneous reproduction of a wide range of artworks; Roland DG’s Australian launch of the latest award winning Hi-Fi JET Pro II FJ-540 wide-format inkjet printer; and Epson’s new range of Epson Pro Graphic printers and K3 ink. Kodak’s Graphic Communications Group (GCG) stand will have its Kodak 1200i wide-format printing system, an evolution of the successful Encad NovaJet 1000i, on display.

Three international speakers and a smattering of local industry experts are set to enlighten guests on topics such as image capture, image processing and manipulation, reproduction of art grade prints and the presentation of artworks.

International digital fine art expert Norbert Klinke, from German fine art paper manufacturer Hahnemuhle, will present a 45 minute seminar on how the 500-year-old paper mill has adapted to digital art and photography with its extensive range of digital fine art and Photo Rag Papers. He is flying to Australia especially to attend the event and in his presentation will also address market statistics, reports on the digital fine art market in other parts of the world, new products Hahnemuhle is currently working on and where he sees the market headed.

UK-based Wayne Connolly, who established Innova Art Ltd, will speak on colour management, file storage and paper profiles, and HP’s worldwide market manager for large format, Guayente Sanmartin, from Spain, will present on the future trends for large-format digital imaging.

Also speaking are GASAA executive director Garry Knespal, Silverpixel’s David Roche, Andy McCourt from Print21, Craig Heckenberg from Epson, Chromaticity’s David Crowther and Ross Coffey from Liveprint.

Those with the top talent in the industry will also be rewarded at the Adapt Awards. With over $15,000 worth of prizes on offer, the winners are to be announced at a cocktail party on the opening night of the three day exhibition.
