Arsoma appoints new MD
Dr. Olaf Römer (38) has been appointed as managing director of Arsoma Druckmaschinen GmbH (Arsoma) with effect from July 1, 2003. He will manage the company together with Siegfried Arabin, presently member of Arsoma’s executive board.
As a graduate engineer in electrical engineering/electronics Dr Römer received his doctorate in Engineering (Precision Mechanics) in 1992 and commenced his professional career as a management consultant for McKinsey & Co., Berlin. On completion of his MBA studies at Insead, Fontainebleau, France, Dr Römer became responsible for business development at Linotype-Hell. In 1997, Heidelberg acquired Linotype-Hell and Dr. Römer assumed responsibility for corporate development at Heidelberg. In this role, Dr. Römer was involved in Heidelberg’s entrance in the narrow web printing business which led to a strategic co-operation between Heidelberg and the Gallus Group in 1999. In 2000, Dr Römer joined the Gallus Group and became a member of the executive board of Gallus Ferd. Rüesch.
In his new position as Managing Director at Arsoma, Dr Römer will ensure that Gallus presses engineered and produced at Arsoma will continue to set and maintain the highest standards of quality, flexibility and innovatio. Dr Römer says: "Arsoma’s engineering and manufacturing experience will continue to bring an essential contribution to the long term success of both the Gallus Group and our customers. With the Gallus Group’ worldwide sales and service network, which is unparalleld in the industry, and the partnership with Heidelberg, we will jointly maintain the Gallus’ Group market leadership for a long time to come."
In the early 1970s Siegfried Arabin and his brother Dieter founded the organisation that was to become Arsoma. Siegfried Arabin has been a member of Arsoma’s executive board and a member of the executive committee of Arsoma since then. Dieter Arabin now heads strategic development projects on behalf of the whole Gallus Group.
