Bent Mortensen (54) is the new head of the Asia-Pacific region for Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg). Appointed July 1, 2005, he was previously senior vice president of Product Line Management at the company’s headquarters in Heidelberg for four years and was responsible for the offset, CtP, Prinect Workflow and consumables sectors. Mortensen takes over from Günter Zorn who is leaving the company. He trained at the East Asiatic Company (EAC) in Copenhagen, during which time he attended various business schools in Denmark. He then held a variety of management roles for EAC in Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines. Mortensen became commercial director for Presses and Postpress for Heidelberg Asia-Pacific in Singapore in 1998, the same year that Heidelberg took over the EAC sales companies in Asia. Overall, Mortensen has more than 30 years’ experience of working in Asia.

Heidelberg’s Asia-Pacific region comprises the eleven Heidelberg agencies in Australia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand. There is also an independent network of dealers in Bangladesh, Burma, Cambodia, Indo China, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Vietnam.

More than 2000 Heidelberg staff in the Asia Pacific region achieved sales of €822m in financial year 2004/2005,contributing 25.6 per cent of total Heidelberg sales of &euro3.36bn.

Bent Mortensen is married and has two children.
