To celebrate its 125th year in business and to mark its impending move to new corporate headquarters, JL Lennard has produced a 36-page booklet commemorating the company’s fascinating history. The 36-page chronicle, which contains many nostalgic photos, traces the rise of JL Lennard from an importer of disinfectant into one of Australia’s largest distributors of packaging and printing machinery, graphics arts supplies and food and beverage equipment.

It profiles the challenges that have confronted the company over the years, including two world wars, the Great Depression and the premature death of William Henry Boekemann, the first of three generations of Boekemanns who have played key roles in the business.

JL Lennard is one of Australia’s oldest privately-owned family companies and, under the guidance of managing director David Boekemann, it continues to prosper by embracing new technology and being responsive to changing market needs. It employs around 120 people throughout Australia and New Zealand in a ‘family’ of related businesses – JL Lennard Packaging, JL Lennard Food Equipment and JL Lennard Graphics.

By mid-September the company will move its Sydney headquarters to 42 Giffard Street, Silverwater. Almost 50 per cent larger than the size of its current West Ryde facility, the new premises will provide 3500sqm of space on a single level, comprising modern air-conditioned offices, a showroom, a spare parts repository, a training centre, a test kitchen and a clear-span warehouse with a ceiling height of up to six metres.
