On January 3, Blue Star Print Group Australia (BSPGA) announced it has acquired Melbourne-based direct mailhouse, 55 Laser Pty Ltd. The operations of 55 Laser will be co-located with existing Blue Star Print operations based at Clayton and will relocate at the beginning of March, 2007. The 55 Laser acquisition further supports Blue Stars continued growth in Australia and more recently follows the successful acquisition & integration of Melbourne based printing business Print In Vision in July 2006.

Blue Star Print Group Australia is part of Blue Star Print Group Limited with revenues of A$340 million and Trans Tasman operations including sheetfed printing, web offset printing, label printing, mailing services, logistics, print management and supply chain services.

Blue Star Print Group Australia CEO, Geoff Selig, says, "The acquisition of 55 Laser represents a further element of our growth strategy in the Victorian market. The acquisition builds further on Blue Star’s recent A$15m investment in Melbourne that includes a new purpose built production facility and a full re equipping of the plant with new kit.

“This latest acquisition combined with our investment in other parts of the business significantly increases our capacity to offer a broader range of products and solutions to our customer base in this key market.

“I am delighted that the three 55 Laser directors, Guy Redgrave, Allen Smeaton and Shaun Williams, have entered into long term employment agreements with Blue Star. All three will add significantly to our depth of experience in the Victorian marketplace.”

“Blue Star has continued to grow strongly over the last five years both organically and through acquisition. We will continue to seek out acquisitions of suitable printing and/or mailhouse businesses as we grow market share. It is part of a cohesive strategy based on acquisitions, extensive capital investment and innovation," Selig concludes.
