Computershare is installing its third high volume webfed inkjet Ricoh InfoPrint 5000, this time into its Brisbane production facility, making it the first high speed inkjet web in the city.

The company last year put in the InfoPrint system into both its Melbourne and Sydney sites. Computershare is the first business in the country to have a trio of high speed webfed print systems.

According to David Hynes, managing director, Computershare Communications Services, Queensland businesses were already lining up to take advantage of the variable colour production. He says, “The Ricoh InfoPrint 5000’s quality, colour output facilitates improved client engagement, resulting in greater success of marketing and general communication strategies.

“Quality printing also needs to be cost effective, so the ability to reduce the amount of time invested and excess stock wasted is a great result for bottom lines.”

The company says the high-speed, variable colour platform will eliminate local businesses’ needs for base stocks by simplifying the production process and improving efficiencies, delivering significant cost savings while still producing quality printed communication.

The infoPrint provides high speed one pass personalised print, meankng Computershare’s clients will no longer need to order pre-printed shells then have them overprinted. In doing that there is no need for inventory management

Businesses will have the option of switching from inserting generic promotional information into a mail pack, to personalised onserts printed in full colour on the primary document next to key information, which research indicates increases the likelihood of information being read and influencing behaviour.

Hynes says, “By combining the Ricoh InfoPrint 5000 with Computershare’s Communications Consulting service and Publisher Online, our web-based dynamic content publishing platform, our clients can strategically enhance the design of their communications and customise their variable messaging in full colour from their desktop, driving greater customer engagement.”

The Ricoh InfoPrint 5000 can also provide flexible output and finishing via dynamic and static perforation for a range of applications, including remittance advices and personalised coupons.

With the Brisbane arrival of the Ricoh InfoPrint 5000, Computershare clients have the ability to print simultaneously in full colour along the eastern seaboard, meaning even greater capacity, and reduced delivery times and postage costs. Computershare’s extensive disaster recovery ability, tested and proven during the Brisbane floods, will be even more comprehensive with the addition of this platform to those at the Sydney and Melbourne sites.

“This extension into Brisbane continues to deepen our relationship with Computershare and reinforces our commitment to supporting the growth of both their business and that of their customers,” said Les Richardson, Managing Director, Ricoh Australia. “The installation of the Ricoh InfoPrint 5000 is a significant investment in Computershare’s Brisbane operations and is also the first colour continuous feed ink jet device to be installed in the city.”

The Ricoh InfoPrint 5000 range can hit speeds of up to 128 metres per minute, producing 1,832 full-colour single-sided A4 prints per minute.

“The Ricoh InfoPrint 5000 boasts a reliable track record as well as high throughput coupled with colour consistency and ease of use. The 'white roll in' and any 'colour output out' provides significant productivity increases opposed to traditional pre-printed shell cutsheet printing,” said Richardson.

It is expected that the Ricoh InfoPrint 5000 will be installed and operational in Brisbane by December this year.
