Creo has announced that the Leaf Valeo digital camera backs and Portable Power solution have been honoured by editors, experts and consumers with awards from Electronic Publishing, American Photo and Digital Output magazines. Electronic Publishing selected the Leaf Valeo digital camera backs for the 11th annual Hot Products awards in the magazine’s December 2003 issue. The Leaf Valeo 22 digital camera back with mega-sized sensor was launched in June 2003. Considered best products of their class, ‘Hot Products’ are selected by the editorial staff of Electronic Publishing from hundreds of products featured throughout the year.

Keith Hevenor, Electronic Publishing editor, says, "The past year has been very challenging for the graphic arts industry, but despite the tight economic times, leaders in our industry continue to develop products and technologies that address the needs of users by streamlining workflow and opening new doors of opportunity."

American Photo magazine chose the Leaf Portable Power Solution for its 2003 Editor’s Choice Award. Leaf Portable Power is a unique approach for portable professional digital photography that integrates the Leaf Valeo digital camera backs with innovative solutions for image storage and display.

American Photo magazine looked to Leaf for imaging technology that enables photographers to turn their vision into reality. The American Photo Editor’s Choice Award is considered among the most authoritative and comprehensive awards in the industry—"the best of the best"—a symbol that conveys to consumers quality products on the cutting edge of technology.

Readers of Digital Output magazine named the Leaf Valeo family of digital camera backs to its list of top 50 products and technologies. The Readers’ Choice awards showcase the 50 most interesting products and technologies of the year.

The Leaf Valeo 6 and Leaf Valeo 11 digital camera backs were launched at Photokina 2002. The Leaf Valeo 22 digital camera back features 4056x5356 resolution in a sensor size of 48x36mm, which provides exactness and diminishes moiré issues. Raw data files are 126 MB in 16-bit. Advanced imaging technologies include the 16-bit Leaf High Dynamic Range (HDR) raw data format, Leaf double-sensor readout (DSR) technology, and the 512 MB internal memory buffer for at least nine fast continuous frames.

The CCD imaging area fits the 6x4.5 lens-coverage. Focal length needs minimal conversion, thus lens perspective usage is the same as with film. The 3:4 classic photographic ratio is efficient and minimises cropping.

The Leaf Valeo family integrates optional Portable Power, a unique approach for portable professional digital photography with innovative solutions for image storage and display.

The Leaf Valeo digital camera backs use a removable 10 GB Leaf Digital Magazine for storing hundreds of 16 bit raw images. Back in the studio, the Leaf Digital Magazine can be connected to a computer via FireWire communications to act as a standard portable hard drive without requiring a propriety application to read or write images.

The Leaf DP-67 is a detachable 6 x 7 cm image display and control unit based on the HP iPAQ pocket PC. It acts as both a "digital proof" and a "personal photographic assistant".
